College Bound & Career Planning

The foundation awards scholarships to young girls who have demonstrated their intention to attend college. Our college entry and scholarship program seeks to alleviate the burden and challenges associated with obtaining a college education. We provide various levels of assistance. In addition to college field trips, we also assist the girls with SAT/ACT preparation and fees, completing entry applications, paying application fees, and obtaining internships and part-time work.

Mentoring

The Smahrt Girl mentoring program enhances the development of teen girls while providing opportunities and exposure to resources and experiences that cultivate a positive self image, educational advancement and cultural enrichment.

dtd2016mentormentee1Thank you for the opportunity my daughter Nadia Brown was given to visit New York City.  Attending a Broadway Play for the first time was life changing.  I want to especially thank Mr. Kenny Ozoude, the President and CEO of Eudora Healthcare Inc. for supporting the Smarht Girl Foundation.  This enabled the foundation to take many young ladies on a trip that would cultivate their thinking about their future.

Start Smahrt Teen Summit

Start Smahrt Teen Summit is a full day of empowering and inspiring teen girls through interactive activities, informative workshops, and girl talk sessions. Experts are invited to speak with the teens on the four pillars of the foundation: Health and Fitness, College & Career Planning, Financial Management, Self-Esteem and Goal Setting. The summit is generally held at the beginning of the school year near the end of August or September. The event is free to teen girls who register in advance. Parents are invited to attend. To defray some of the cost, parents are generally asked to pay a nominal fee.

My experience in New York City motivated me to better prepare myself for when I appear on Broadway and at the Apollo Theatre. Not only can I now say that I’ve experienced New York, but I crossed paths with some of the most positive young women and the most amazing mentors I’ve ever met. Again, thank you for believing and investing in the future of the Smahrt Girl Foundation. I am truly grateful to be a part of such an awesome organization and thank you for showing the true meaning of what paying it forward is all about.

Testimonial from one of our girls

leslieIt has been my life goal to be able to travel to every state in the United States. Therefore, by going to New York makes it state number 6 out of 50. Honestly, every aspect of this trip was breath-taking. From landing a chance to take a selfie with  Robin Roberts from Good Morning America/being able to attend their summer concert series which featured Ariana Grande (we even had the opportunity to land on stage!), taking a tour through Downtown New York, walking through Times Square, eating at Sardi’s, riding in a Subway, etc. etc. Especially having the chance to be in the same room as 12 Years a Slave star, Lupita Nyong’o, was amazing! I truly felt like I was able to fulfill the New York experience thanks to you guys.
