Smahrt Girl Foundation Kicks Off The 2016 Prom Season

Area High School Girls to Receive FREE Dresses and Lessons on Etiquette and Makeup

HOUSTON, TX, March 15, 2016 –Prom season is fast approaching and the Smahrt Girl Foundation (SGF) is gearing up to grant the dream of receiving FREE prom dresses for hundreds of high school girls in Houston and neighboring rural communities. The “Dress the Dream” program is sponsored by Smahrt Solutions, Inc. President Pamela Ellis says the overwhelming support of last year’s event showed how important this event is to the community.

houseofdereon_april-16“Dress the Dream” is about removing the financial burden of having to pay for a dress that makes young girls feel beautiful and special. Going to the prom is a time in their lives that they will always remember. Our program gives them an opportunity to say “Yes to Prom” and so much more. The event is designed to provide girls with not only formal wear, but also the skills needed to feel confident, smart, proud and powerful.

In 2015, more than 100 young ladies were able to receive free dresses and accessories thanks to the generous donations of patrons and businesses. “It really exceeded my expectations,” said Sonia White who received a free dress for her daughter and a friend last year.

“It was truly a remarkable experience, knowing that so many good-hearted people were willing to help defray the costs of such a memorable event. It was a total package experience with the makeup and etiquette lessons, so my daughter and her friend left the event feeling and looking like young ladies. Smahrt Girl Foundation Rocks!”

The “Dress the Dream” event will also include beauty workshops and a shopping extravaganza on Saturday, April 16, 2016 from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm at The House of Dereon located at 2204 Crawford Street, Houston, TX 77002.

“The mission of The Smahrt Girl Foundation is to provide girls living in rural and urban areas the opportunity to live the life of their dreams by offering positive support through character-building, life skills and leadership programs,” explains Ellis. “Dress the Dream” is one of our signature events and receives awe-inspiring support from the business community.”

Girls interested in receiving FREE dresses can register on the Smahrt Girl Foundation website at or call (713) 839-5757. New and gently used dresses and accessories can be dropped off at the locations attached.
